Li ,
research fellow and professor with the Institute of Agricultural
Economics, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IAE-CAAS).
Executive Vice Chairman of the China Society for International Rural
Development since 1999. Observer
to the International Policy Council on Agriculture, Food and Trade (IPC,
Washington, D.C.) during 1994-97, and a member of the Expert Working
Group under the Soft-Science Committee, Ministry of Agriculture
(1994-98).
Major
research field is global food security and comparative study on rural
and agricultural development and policies. Coordinator or main executor
of many important research projects on international comparative
agriculture, including:

The Reform of China’s Agricultural Administration Systems in
the Framework of the WTO (2002-04).
Visiting
scholar to the former Soviet Union (1989-90), the United States (1995)
and visited Egypt, the United States, Hungary, France, many republics of
the former USSR, Germany, Colombia, the Netherlands, Canada, Brazil,
Russia, and attended numerous IPC international seminars of and
workshops in many countries. Guest professor of the Ohio State
University since 1993 for its “Study Abroad Program” and read
lectures on “Rural Development in China” and “Agricultural Reforms
in China”.
